Felix Laband is a true sound artist.
Releasing his first full length electronic album in 2001 Thin Shoes in June,
Laband quickly established himself as the leading pioneer of emotive electronica in South Africa working with the now legendary record label African Dope Records.
These early years were filled with much international touring, lots of collaborations and much love and joy. Laband continued to work compulsively, and by 2005 he had released his third album, Dark Days Exit, with the Munich-based record label Compost Records. This marked the beginning of an international career that has continued to grow to this very day with dedicated fans all over the world.

Felix has always stayed true to one concept: that of being a unique producer who strays far from the obvious trends and fashions that too often dominate the electronic music world. His 2015 release Deaf Safari found him exploring the politics and tragedies of his native country South Africa which was now twenty years into the new ANC-run government, and was suffering from all the disasters that come with a post-apartheid democracy. The influences on him of South African Kwaito and House music were more pervasive in this release, and the album somehow captured the attention of an even wider audience with many tracks having millions of streams across all platforms.
As the popularity of Felix’s music spread, the artist seemed to retreat further and further from society, choosing to spend most of his time working on his music and his art with a dedication that could easily be considered dangerously obsessive. Nevertheless, Felix’s redeeming grace has been the consistent creation and release of music that is never stagnant, but is always challenging. And, most of all, it is both sincere and beautiful.

In 2022 Laband released The Soft White Hand which, once again, earned the love and appreciation his work always receives.

Felix is now at a very exciting point in his life and career. Forty-six years old and still producing exciting and relevant music, he is about to release a whole new body of work. Moreover, having very recently signed with the managerial and booking Agency The Good Times based in The Netherlands, he is at last about to embark on much-anticipated and long overdue international touring. 
Felix is truly so excited and grateful to have made so many fans all over the world, and just can’t wait to travel and perform for them all. Admittedly, it’s been a long time coming, but it’s been worth the wait because Felix finally feels ready to head forth and conquer the world with love and Jiva.
