Blue Vow releases powerful new single "We Must Scream"
Blue Vow releases the latest single, "We Must Scream”. This powerful new track encapsulates a significant moment in the artist's journey, inspired by a period of travel and creative exploration.
The song emerged during a six-week stay in Hackney, London, where Blue Vow embarked on a personal rock 'n' roll pilgrimage, attending live performances by legendary figures such as Patti Smith, The Rolling Stones, Iggy Pop, Kim Gordon, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, and Einstürzende Neubauten. This transformative time, spent in a cozy, plant-filled apartment, became the fertile ground for the creation of "We Must Scream."
The inspiration behind the song is rooted in the eclectic energy of the apartment, particularly a classical nylon-string guitar that lent its warm tones to the track. A luminous sculptured owl, a striking figure in the apartment, became a guiding symbol throughout this chapter of creativity. One evening, a surge of inspiration hit, and Blue Vow surrendered to the demand of songwriting, resulting in the birth of "We Must Scream."
Fresh off the influence of Kim Gordon’s memoir, 'Girl in a Band,' Blue Vow began experimenting with a drum machine, creating a simple yet driving loop. The nylon-string guitar was recorded through laptop speakers, distorted using digital guitar amps and effects pedals, creating a raw, lo-fi texture. Unique percussion was added using the apartment's sturdy kitchen table, layered with distortion and delay, infusing the song with a sense of playful chaos.
