Good Times #7 by Amy Ayanda

Hello! I am Amy Ayanda; an artist and musician based in Cape Town, South Africa. My paintings and prints draw inspiration from the local landscape, its flora and colours. Images of proteas, fynbos and the familiar silhouette of Table Mountain recur in both my illustrative work and my more impressionistic canvas pieces.

I grew up on Bill Withers, Randy Crawford and Simply Red (to name a few) on the beach house stoep where we would visit for our family holidays in Pringle Bay. I still remember the smell of the dunes on a hot afternoon. The hours we would spend down at the beach while these songs would gently echo down to us as we played. My mother would read in bed while my father would bring home his fresh catch from the ocean. A happy memory and one which I thought would be fitting to document with a playlist.
