Release Radar: Vox Portent delivers emotionally powerful remix of Morena Leraba’s “Heleru”

Johannesburg-based musician and producer, Vox Portent, has delivered an emotionally powerful remix of “Heleru”  from Morena Leraba’s 2023 EP,  Fela sa Ha Mojela. The remix sparks a series of remixes to be released over the coming months. 

Vox Portent (Steve Hogg) is an ambient electronic musician who has captured audiences and fans with his unique breed of emotionally powerful and spiritually charged music. He also produced and recorded Fela sa Ha Mojela and so it’s no surprise that his remix of “Heleru” is a brilliant - and deeply felt - version of the original track.

Vox Portent’s “Heleru” remix is part of a series of releases of each of the tracks off Morena Leraba’s acclaimed debut EP, Fela sa Ha Mojela. Remixes of each of the EP’s five songs will be released in the coming months.

Over the past nine years, Morena Leraba has become a globally acclaimed flagbearer of a remodelled Lesotho sound, manifested through a series of memorable live performances, numerous high-wattage collaborations (with artists such as Major Lazer, Moonchild Sanelly and BLK JKS) and inclusion in key creative projects, like Damon Albarn’s Africa Express.
