Release Radar: Dangerfields release new single ‘Demons’
Demons is a song about being trapped in a situation which prohibits you from doing the things that bring you joy, for reasons that you can’t control or understand.
The song was written during a lockdown in 2020 and was inspired by frustration and self-doubt that members of the band were feeling after months of not being able to meet up and make music or play gigs.
Dangerfields are a 5-piece alt-rock band from Cape Town known for taking their listeners on a cathartic journey. Their music ranges from upbeat guitar driven psychedelic post-punk to atmospheric, dreamy shoegaze, with all of it drenched in reverb. Their lyrics are raw and honest, and performed with powerful vocal harmonies and reverb.
The band released EPs titled Embers and Ashes in 2016 and 2017 respectively, and a full length album titled Echoes & Pulses via Permanent Record in late 2019.
After a successful national tour in early 2020, the band shifted focus to writing new music and playing occasional streaming concerts to keep busy during the pandemic. Since 2021, they have released 3 singles and a music video through The Good Times Co and played several shows countrywide. They are currently gearing up for their next tour to support the release of their next 2 singles, ‘Demons’ and ‘Harder’.
Since Dangerfields started performing in 2016, they have played many of the top local venues and music festivals countrywide and have shared stages with notable international acts such as Thee Oh Sees, A Place to Bury Strangers, Moon Duo, Dead Meadow, Medicine Boy, Night Beats, NONN, The Gluts, YAK, Wolf Alice and more.
“...mammoth and all-encompassing and amplified by an incredible light show. World class.” - Texx and the City.
