Release Radar: EMERGER ‘State of Mind’ Versions

"State of Mind" is the latest single and music video from Cape Town duo EMERGER. It will be part of their upcoming full-length album, set to be released in 2021. Versions for the EP include the original, unplugged piano/vocal, instrumental and acoustic versions.

Written and produced from their home studio during lockdown while the global pandemic felt particularly dire, Emma and Gerry approached “State of Mind” from a place of hope for the future; a reminder to try and make the best of the current moment.

The music video portrays the interplay of mixed emotions. Moments of emotionless solitude are contrasted by carefree solace. The "place where we can go" and "silver castles in the sky" are embodied by visions of an imaginary dystopian utopia. The single has also been accompanied by various live performance video releases.
